Why a Facial Recognition Clock In System is Essential for Small Business

The article highlights the importance of facial recognition time clocks for small businesses, introducing Swipeclock's Vision and upcoming Vision+ models that offer touchless, highly accurate biometric employee verification integrated with time tracking systems, enhanced workplace safety through features like thermal scanning, and improved hygiene and security for efficient workforce management.

In today's workplace, a facial recognition time clock is far more common than it was even a decade ago. In some cases, advanced biometric clocks are must-haves. With health, safety, and time theft use-cases, facial recognition time clocks are fast becoming the best technology for tracking time. This technology has the potential to solve a multitude of problems your clients are facing as they bring their employees back to the office and try to keep them safe.

Introducing Swipeclock Vision Employee Time Clock

The new Vision facial recognition clock is now available for partners to begin selling. This biometric time clock allows employers to clock employees in and out with minimal touch using facial authentication. Integrating with both WorkforceHub and TimeWorksPlus, Vision pairs with time tracking to provide an ideal workforce solution for clients’ return to the office.

Vision+ Coming Soon

The second clock in the Vision series is the Vision+. With all the features of Vision, the Vision+ adds a thermal scanner to screen employees for elevated temperature. Vision+ records punches, calculates time for payroll, tracks meals, breaks, PTO, and enforces schedules. The Vision+ will be available soon, and partners will be notified as soon as it is ready.

Vision & Vision+ Features

Paired with Swipeclock’s time tracking, the Vision series provides comprehensive time tracking, security, and safety features:

  • Rapid employee verification with near 100% accuracy
  • Adapts to low light environments
  • Minimal-touch and easily sanitized
  • Cannot be fooled by a photo like some fingerprint clocks
  • Vision+ includes a multi-point Infrared Body Temperature Scanner accurate within 0.3 degrees

“Because employee safety is paramount, businesses need a time clock that is easy to use and provides the security and reliability of biometric authentication for clocking employees in and out. Swipeclock Vision with facial detection has raised the bar on workplace hygiene by offering operation that’s faster than any other method. With Swipeclock Vision, companies will be able to keep their workforces safe without losing the reliability of previous clocks.” – Coleman Barney, CEO of Swipeclock.

What is a Facial Recognition Time Clock?

A time clock with facial recognition is a hardware clock that tracks employee time using the face as the authentication method. Employees stand in front of the clock and face the scanner as it quickly identifies each employee by scanning their face and measuring key landmarks between facial features.

When the employee is authenticated, the time clock records their clock-in for the shift. The timestamp is then sent to the time and attendance software where time worked is tracked on digital timecards, along with PTO accruals.

The Advantages of a Facial Recognition Time Clock Attendance System

  1. 1.Prevents buddy punching as it is virtually impossible to fool
  2. 2.No lost key cards, fobs, or passwords
  3. 3.Quick—prevents bottlenecks at shift changes
  4. 4.Works for a wide range of skin tones, facial features, and heights
  5. 5.Accurate—identifies faces with near 100% accuracy
  6. 6.Controls access in secure environments
  7. 7.Works across the broadest range of environments and conditions

Facial Recognition vs Fingerprint vs Iris Scanner

Although fingerprint scanning time clocks are notably more secure than many other options on the market, there are still some drawbacks that a time clock with facial recognition can mitigate. If employees are wearing gloves, they have to take them off, which slows down the clock-in process. Additionally, fingerprint scanners could prove unreliable in dusty and dirty environments. Assessing your work environment is key to making a decision on what technology suits your business best.
